New Data Updates: Vkontakte, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

Our new data update sees the addition of Vkontakte, the ability to track paid posts on LinkedIn, and access to more Instagram and Facebook data.

It’s been a busy year for our data teams at Brandwatch as we’ve been adding a lot of new social data to our platform.

We’ve released a number updates that have been highly requested by our customers:

The addition of Vkontakte
The ability to track paid posts on LinkedIn
Access to more Instagram and Facebook data

Let’s explore each of these one by one.

VKontakte

You can now access all public data matching specific keywords for VKontakte in Brandwatch via the VK firehose.

VKontakte, or VK, or ‘The Russian Facebook’ is Europe’s largest social network with over 100 million active users. In January 2021 it was the 15th most popular website in the world.

It represents a critical source of insight into consumers in the Russian and Eastern European markets where the majority of its users are based. But it also has an English interface and a growing international user base.

VK is also particularly popular amongst millennials and generation Z. Over two thirds of its users are under the age of 34, providing a fantastic opportunity to understand younger consumer demographics.

LinkedIn Ad Tracking

Last year we added the ability to monitor your LinkedIn company pages to help optimize your content strategy and build a stronger, more impactful presence on the world’s largest professional social network.

Now, you can also monitor engagement on your paid LinkedIn posts, allowing you to measure the performance of all your promoted content in one place and compare the results of your organic and paid activities.

With over 690 million users, LinkedIn is a social media powerhouse. Engagement on the platform also increased by 50% last year, so it’s no surprise that 97% of B2B marketers utilize it for their content marketing efforts.

Facebook & Instagram Historical Data

Last year Facebook updated its terms for how providers like Brandwatch can handle its data. The good news for Brandwatch customers is that (unlike for users of other vendors), there have been no necessary changes or loss of data, and we can continue to focus on improvements that help them make the most of their Facebook and Instagram data.

This year we’ve increased the amount of historical data you can collect from Instagram and Facebook. You now have the ability to collect up to 400 days worth of data when you track any Instagram accounts or Facebook business pages.

IGTV

All users can now also collect and analyze Instagram TV posts alongside their other Instagram data.

This provides additional insight into owned and public posts using this popular long-form format which can be created and viewed in the standalone IGTV app or on Instagram itself.
